YouWin.com vows to keep promises to affiliates

24 March 2010

Earlier this year, uwin.com found itself in an unenviable position -- it was being compared to Grand Prive.

Last July, sportsbook WINunited ostensibly suspended its affiliate program and affiliate payments so it could switch software platforms. But that's not what happened. Instead, Winunited rebranded itself as uwin.com and shut down its affiliate program completely -- violating its promise of lifetime commissions to affiliates.

But unlike the Grand Prive fiasco, this situation has a happy ending.

Sportingbet founder Mark Blandford acquired uwin.com and installed a new management team, which rebranded the site YouWin.com. And in February -- six months after affiliate accounts had been first suspended -- the new operators, working with the Gambling Affiliates Union, agreed to reinstate players, pay existing affiliates retrospectively and continue future payments.

With YouWin's new affiliate program launching this month, the management team at YouWin says it will keep this promise.

"The decision to close the program was both unfortunate and unnecessary," said Will Lytle, YouWin's new head of marketing. "However, we take full responsibility for these past decisions and are committed to rectifying the matter and re-build the trust with the affiliate community."

"Affiliates are and will remain an integral part of our growth strategy, and that starts with the integrity of the program and the individuals involved," Lytle said.

"With the considerable advancement of core internet technologies over the last few years and the rapidly evolving ways people interface with the internet and other technologies such as mobile devices, we see a solid opportunity to build a truly innovative sports betting brand that over-delivers on customer needs and the customer experience, and keeps us ahead of the competition," Lytle added. "We have brought together the right team to help us meet these challenges, and as a business we are committed to remaining as agile and efficient as possible. We feel extremely optimistic."
